Name: Eva Maria
Alias: Eve (self-appointed)
Age and birthdate: 19, and she was born on April 19th in 2006.
Home city: Mercury City
Type: Villain
Occupation: Does not apply, she doesn’t need to work for money since her powers allow her to have people throwing money at her in an act of charity if needed. She does take a lot of classes online for the simple fact that she adores learning, though, so ‘student’ in a way?
Appearance: Using Natalie Martinez as a PB.
Eva M. has long black hair, big brown eyes and an easy smile. She might not be the kind of beauty you write songs about but she knows what kind of looks look good on her and she uses it. She takes care of her image, even though she works hard to give off some kind of ‘natural’ vibe. She’s athletic, and a bit on the short side.
She has European traits to her face, especially her nose and she’s actually rather proud of it, since it helps stand out. And a bit of an accent.
Personality:
Eva Maria is… hard to explain, because she doesn’t really know who she is herself.
Her main personality trait would be
Eva Maria’s also determined and with a lot of patience, though. When she wants something it doesn’t have to be right there and then and while Eva might not be a mastermind she can plot ahead, adapt to the situation and wait for what she wants until it comes to her willingly. The way her powers work means that she can’t quite force people to do whatever she wants them to, she can influence them in certain ways at most. So she’s quite used to twisting things around, playing with words and situations until they fit the way she wants them. Because of this, she’s a firm believer that there is no such thing as an ‘absolute truth’ and that reality can be subjective.
But that isn’t the only thing that defines her. She’s a fun girl, she loves to joke around and has pretty dry sense of humor. Her powers kind of call her towards pure people who try to stay away from sins and debauchery, so she tries to stay away from them and spends a fairly around of time in clubs or simply hanging out with people her age who like to party (which is probably not that weird considering she’s 19). She’s likeable and easy-going, so it’s not hard for her to find people to spend a few fun nights with.
A few fun nights and no longer because while Eva Maria doesn’t exactly hate people she… really can’t spend longer than a couple days with someone without trying to manipulate them one way or another and sooner or later they catch up on it. Which really, she wouldn’t give a damn about that and she doesn’t when she truly wants something from them, but most of the time it isn’t really worth all that trouble. She isn’t afraid of the reputation she could get, and she isn’t ashamed of being who she is- and that includes being a manipulative little shit. But if it’s easier to just go around meeting new friends instead of trying to keep them then that’s what she will do.
It might sound like Eva Maria dislikes people. She isn’t exactly a lover, and she isn’t fond of most people but she isn’t actually cynical enough to hate all of them, and to believe there are actually no good people left. She knows there are, she sees them with their own eyes. She also knows love exists- she saw it in her brother before she left, the way he looked at her with adoration because of who she was, and not what her powers were. Varo is to her what she was to others, in a way: proof that people can do good. She loved him, too, more than she loved the monsters her parents became but she doesn’t really give enough of a damn to go back.
(Or maybe she’s just scared she won’t find what she gave away anymore).
I have already established that she’s highly manipulative. Truth is? She’s also… petty easily manipulated. Not because she doesn’t realize when people are trying to get her to do things for them, but most of the time when she does realize it she just mentally shrugs and still goes with it because hey, it’s fun, whatever. The easiest way to get her to do whatever you want her to is… to put it under an interesting light, to convince her it’s actually a way to get what she wants.
So, what does she want from life? Now that’s the one million question, with Eva Maria, since what motivates her is her own ambitions. And it’s also hard to answer. She wants to have fun, she wants to be happy, she wants to see everything life has to show her and suck it dry. She basically wants to live because her parents raised her to live for others and she’s had enough. So honestly?
She wants everything. She’s just not in any rush to get it.
Personal history:
Eva Maria was born to two European (Spanish, to be precise) immigrants called Maria and David. Her father’s sister, who had been living in America for decades had inherited a little hair salon (among other things, she was quite wealthy) that she didn’t know what to do with and had offered her brother David a job. They had decided to take the chance.
Maria didn’t know she was pregnant when she took that plane. So half a year after settling in, the little Eva Maria was born.
Her parents weren’t rich, but he was by then the owner of the hair salon and Maria had managed to find some cleaning jobs here and there. Eva Maria wasn’t rich, but she wasn’t poor either and she grew up learning about her parent’s culture from them while she lived in the states, proud of where she came from but also open to learn about where she was. She had friends, relatively good grades and parents who loved her. All in all a pretty happy life… until her aunt realized Eva Maria had a gift when she was only 9, soon after her little brother’s Alvaro’s birth.
Her aunt Gloria (with a hidden power that allowed her to detect those with abilities beyond human, a power that Gloria herself did not know she had) soon realized how everyone seemed to be a better person when they were around Eva Maria. How they made better decisions, how they were able to put their own selfishness aside and truly, honestly put their needs aside for the good of others without expecting anything in return.
Everything changed for Eva Maria after that moment.
Her parents didn’t truly understand what was happening to their little girl, but the way her powers manifested made it clear, to them, that this was somehow work of God. She was a literal angel and they weren’t going to let her waste her powers. The little neighborhood was full of religious people and the rumor ran wild: soon they wanted her to befriend their children, to visit the sick and pray for the dead. When she told them she could focus on certain specific traits, the virtues she’d read about they asked her to focus on them as she touched certain objects to make them charms. ‘It doesn’t work like that’, she’d say. ‘I can only see in people’.
But they didn’t listen. Her mother once told her she didn’t know if she tried, and it did no harm.
The mother Eva Maria had once known wouldn’t have dreamed to make them pay for their services, or using them to get money for themselves. Not when she truly believed it to be God’s manifestation. But that was before she started… to change. Before she started getting obsessed with her looks, and began getting money everywhere she could to get all the plastic surgery she claimed she needed. The father Eva Maria had once known would have stopped her, once. But he’d also started to change and was less and less often at home, and more often chatting up with his clients. Then it was women he met on a bar. Then it was hookers. Maria found out, but she told Eva Maria the divorce would be too expensive. It never really occurred Eva Maria that her brother could be related to all that mess, it still hasn’t.
Their behavior lasted for years, and it only got worse and worse. The day she was 18, Eva Maria left their house. She hadn’t had it planned, she didn’t even know where to go- but she knew already her powers could provide, she’d seen it with her own eyes. She guessed she’d been waiting all that time for that moment even if she hadn’t really planned for it.
So she left, and hasn’t looked back once. She read in a newspaper how her father had died. Also read about her mother. She felt bad for the people they once were, but not for what they had become. She felt bad for her brother, but not enough to go check on him.
Her life has been her own for a whole year, now, and she’s never been happier.
Powers:
TL;DR: Eva Maria is able to see the which of seven virtues anyone defaults to. She is also able to send ‘waves’ of any virtue towards people, in different grades of intensity: she could send a bit of chastity towards someone and they would feel the need to stay away from anything with sexual undertones and temptation in general, or she could send them an overwhelming wave of it and they could cut their sexual organs because they thought them sinful.
Now let’s get deeper into it.
Let’s start by stating that Eva Maria knows… almost nothing about how her powers work so all stated here is my explanation and not her knowledge. She doesn’t really think her powers are a gift from god but the theory she’s working with is that they are some sort of pheromones. But that’s not it. Eva is actually a low range telepath: Unable to read minds or alter memories or that sort of handy tricks other telepaths in media can do (damn it), but able to alter the brain waves enough to shift their behavior.
When Eva Maria looks at someone she sees some sort of ‘aura’, like a glow around them that takes different colors depending on the person’s most prominent virtue. Each person gets a single virtue, even Saint-like people who give everything to others have one specific virtue that shines above all the others- and yes, they change depending on what the person is feeling like at the moment. The more virtuous that person is the brighter the color, and if they are a shameless sinner then Eva Maria hardly sees a glow at all.

Similar to this, only not outing myself as a DC fan
This could be explained as some sort of… “Synesthesia”, even though the idea doesn’t quite fit. What she sees is how her own mind sees he brainwaves, but the aura isn’t actually there- what she actually perceives are the brain’s impulses. A person who might be naturally inclined to chastity, or diligence has a specific kind of impulses in their thoughts that her telepathic abilities feel, and the ‘aura’ is just her own brain ‘translating’ it into a visual and graphic aid. Like a synesthetic that sees colors when they hear certain numbers, Eva Maria sees colors when perceiving certain ideas. And she is able to manipulate said brain-waves, forcing them to adapt into one of the virtues. She doesn’t change people’s personalities when she does this: Jack Harkness subjected to a wave of chastity would be the same sneaky character we all love, he’d simply be less likely to flirt and/or sleep around. The more she upped the wave the less he’d want to be involved in that kind of thing, until- well, the bad end I mentioned earlier. Jack could probably notice something was off, remember how he usually acted and wonder what was wrong with him- the influence doesn’t make people dumb, it just changes their impulses.
Sadly Eva Maria is always, always giving away some latent waves she can’t quite control, slowly but surely making everyone a better person simply by spending too much time around them. She’s never been around someone long enough to know if that could end up being dangerous, if she could drive someone to kill themselves for purity without even sending them any waves…. But she doesn’t particularly worry about that.
I’d leave to what point she’s able to influence another character to the other player.
Room for improvement… well, there sure is. Eva Maria knows how to send her waves fairly well, but she could learn to control it better. If she learned about her telepathy it’d be easier to focus. The influence of the waves isn’t instantaneous… in time and with practice she could make them affect people in seconds. And she could also learn how to use her low range telepathy to protect herself from attacks to her mind from other telepaths.
Skills:
She’s always been a good student, but nothing out of the ordinary. Since she’s taken a lot of theology classes she has a lot of knowledge on the subject, which only has helped come up with ideas to twist the virtues to fit her needs.
She’s also read everything she could get her hands on about manipulation, learning how to read people, emotional blackmailing… even without her powers she’d be pretty much able to get easily manipulated people to do whatever she wanted them to.
Weaknesses:
Her biggest weakness is easy: people attacking her mind. She’d also be weak against other telepaths by the simple fact that she doesn’t even know she is one and that her powers work that way. People with some sort of mental shield would be immune to her powers and she’d honestly be so confused about it, assume maybe they weren’t affected by the pheromones she thinks her powers might be based on. Someone very, very skilled at controlling their emotions and needs could be able to switch between virtues too fast for her to catch up, overwhelming her- or simply be so virtuous it’d overload her mind, ‘blinding’ her because the virtuous aura was too powerful and bright.
And physically she’s also like any other human being so she’d be weak to anything humans are… getting hurt by people stronger than her, electricity, fire, magic, the list is long. If it affects a human, it affects her.
RP Goals:
Honestly I’d like her to… try to go too far, to try to find where her limits are and finding there are none.
I said she wants everything, and it was no exaggeration… but she doesn’t have quite realized that yet. I guess I’d like for her to try to slowly but surely go wining power, using people ruthlessly, to infiltrate UNOMA maybe? Or even try to run for governor, Eva Maria likes to tell herself that the sky can’t be the limit where there are footprints in the moon.
Basically I’d like to play her route to becoming a villain… and her final realization that she is one.

Is this enough?
In Character Responses
The greater good is… just doing what’s best for you and what you really want. When you help someone else you’re only being selfish, you’re only doing it to get the attention and a ‘thank you’, maybe so they owe you one. No good deed goes unpunished and all that.
Your greatest strengths are… my powers, of course. I don’t know, if I didn’t have them I guess I’m smart and resourceful, I’d get along just fine. But I have them so I might as well use them.
Killing is… taking someone’s life? Was I supposed to get metaphysical with this? I’d do it if it was necessary but I don’t just go killing around for fun. Mostly because it isn’t, it’s just a hassle.
Teachers and mentor figures would say you are… again: resourceful. Or maybe imaginative. The point is I can find out a way to turn the situation around to my favor- but I learned most of my tricks from watching said mentor figures, so good job.
Sacrifice is… something others have to do. I’ve sacrificed enough already, now it’s everyone else’s turn to sacrifice for me.
When you were younger you… was naïve and stupid. Aren’t we all? But I had higher powers, so I paid my naiveté in kind.
